¡A LA GRAN!

Wow, is a mission hard, in a good way. To start off ... I have a companion that doesn't speak a lick of English. So there's that. I mean I'll learn Spanish much faster this way. But it definitely comes with its challenges when you struggle to understand what people are saying in lessons. So basically I just sit there until he asks me a simple question, asks me to read something, or gives me that look that it's time for me to bear my testimony. But other than that I consider myself pretty lucky. I'm in the awesome little town called Genova in the zone of Coatepeque. And basically all we do is walk up and down this little main brick road, occasionally taking a tuk-tuk to a different neighboring little town, sharing messages and working with three people on their journey to baptism for this coming week. We have a baptism this Wednesday and Thursday and possibly another this Thursday. We are praying for the third to happen.šŸ¤žšŸ¼ Another thing that's pretty fun is bei...

El Dia de PreparaciĆ³n Final en la CCM

Oh what a P Day it has been. But before I get to what happened today, on Friday, I'll talk un poco 'bout my week. So to start this week off we got to listen to a broadcasted Devotional from Provo that D. Todd Christofferson spoke at and boy, was that a good talk. He spoke about the Atonement of Jesus and how important it is to repent. He gave us the gift of repentance and we must use it. He can't save us if we don't choose to receive this amazing gift. What's the point of Him giving us agency if we abuse it and expect him to save us without us doing any work? My house (Casa 50, which consists of 15 Ɖlderes) tried out for a musical number for our final devotional here in la CCM. On Thursday we tried out with el himno Loor al Profeta (Praise to the Man) acapella. We felt good about it until the next audition showed up, which was basically a choir of about three districts whose devotional would also be their last. We thought we had no chance. But today we received ...

¡Hola a todos!

So this week I finally got my travel plans! I'm leaving here on the 22nd of February! I can't wait to get to work serving the people of Retalhuleu, Guatemala! I was originally a little bit worried about packing everything into two 50 lb. bags, since I have acquired a "few" more things here in the CCM. But upon further inspection of my itinerary, Aero MĆ©xico allows a luxurious 70 lb per checked bag. So now I have one less thing to worry about. Oh and I hit a milestone this week. First time being sick out of the house and sorta on my own. Nothing more than maybe a fever one day and super sore throat. So nothing too bad. This week we also had a devotional. It was a recording of Elder Holland speaking to missionaries when "Preach My Gospel" first came out. And, oh my goodness, was it good. One thing that stuck out to me was one phrase he said that I have heard many times before but ever thought of it this way. "Ye are the hope of Israel." As missionari...

¡Me Encanta a Ver el Templo!

Oh my goodness this week has been soo good, but at the same time soo hard. Who knew always having to speak in Spanish would be so hard y draining. So as I believe I mentioned in my last email, because of the change in districts I now have to hablo solo espaƱol, which is not easy. I have felt a many times that I probably shouldn't have been moved up but at the same time I know it's good for me. I just found out today that the tres otros misioneros en my district had all been in either dual immersion or solo espaƱol immersion programs since kindergarten. Like mi compaƱero Ɖlder Adams learned everything in espaƱol in elementary school, which explains why I have felt so behind. But as I'm having these thoughts of not being good enough, I'm also noticing how well mi espaƱol is progressing. I started last week by having Ɖlder Adams carry me through all of our lessons whereas now I am able to contribute to at least half of the lesson. The Gift of Tongues is real! I've been...
