Comida Santa!!
Well this week has gone by fast. And boy what a blast it was. So much fun and so many spiritual experiences.
My, oh my, have I had a lot of different food this week. From amazing Baleadas to some interesting cow foot soup. Imma have a real problem here soon if I don't start working out here. So if anyone has some good body weight workout routines por favor send them my way😂
For our Wednesday night activity we played some chamusca! (fútbol) It was a ton of fun. And it even helped an investigator open up more and feel more comfortable with us for when we taught him the next night.
The more time I spend here, the more I realize there are dogs literally everywhere. On the roads, on the trails, in the yards, in the houses, even on the houses!! You literally can't be anywhere without a dog in eye sight or barking at you. Normally I wouldn't think anything of it, but... if I get bit, there's a good chance of getting rabies. So I would have to, the same day, go to Quetzaltenango to get shots from a trusted doctor there. So with most dogs here, I'd prefer to stay away from them. But there is a slight exception as you'll in the pictures. There are some pretty cute puppies here and there.
Oh and not only are there a lot of dogs. There are a bunch of bolos as well. (drunks) They are kinda of fun, especially when Élder Rodriguez begins to mess with them. It's quite entertaining. But we always are sure to leave them with a message of the Word of Wisdom and that God loves them.
Today I finally got a guitar!!! Granted, I have been using Élder Rodriguez's for a while but I wanted my own ... that actually stayed in tune and didn't slice my fingers with old strings.
My Spanish as always is improving. The more lessons we have, the more I see the guidance of the Holy Ghost through the gift of tongues. It's like when I have a thought of something I should say I know exactly what to say and how to say it. It's really amazing how the Lord helps us as we strive to do his work here on the earth. The Lord asked me to do this, and he is providing me a way to do so and is guiding me as I follow that way.
Now I won't name all of the spiritual experiences, but I'll tell you one. We had this one lesson this week with an inactive member. But when we got to her door she wasn't there. But luckily her mother and two brothers were in the backyard. Anywho, our lesson was with the older brother and the mother. The other brother was passed out drunk behind the shed on a pile of dirt. So for this lesson we decided to focus on the Word of Wisdom since not just the one brother was a drinker. The other had been drinking earlier in the week too. We also focused on how families can be forever as well since he is currently estranged from his 9 year old daughter and wife. Throughout the whole lesson the spirit was so strong. And I was actually able to speak and participate in the lesson 50/50 with Élder Rodriguez. Whenever I opened my mouth thoughts came to my mind of what to say, in what I think was almost perfect Spanish. And in the end I felt prompted to invite him to quit drinking. And he took the invitation and said he would! Now we'll see if he actually did in a couple of days. But I have faith in him and I know that he knows this is something he needs to do. But if I learned anything this week, it is that when we do what the Lord asks faithfully, he will guide us along the way and guide us in what we should do and say.
Anywho ... thank you all for your support! Missions are tough, but good, but all of your guys' support makes a little bit easier. So once again thank you!
Well y'all, that's it for now. So have a fantastic week and I'll bug y'all later!🐛
¡Te amo!
