Water and more water ...
This week was crazy!!
To start things off transfers went well, other than the fact that the actual transfers didn't because it took until 1030pm at night for the new comps to get to their areas due to blockades due to strikes.
But good thing I'm staying with Élder Watson so we just got right to work when Archaga left the night before for his home in Honduras. Well actually, we tried to get to work. Élder Watson has been pretty sick this past week so keep him in your prayers! So due to that, there were some days we spent more time in the house than others.
One of the times we did leave the house when he wasn't feeling too hot was this friday. As District Leader, Élder Watson now has to do interviews to make sure the friends of the missionaries in our district are indeed ready for their Baptisms. This interview took us to Oriente on the outskirts of Mazatenango. As we were rolling up to Mazate (Mazatenango) the clouds rolled and the rain came. Once we got out of the bus we booked it for shelter and tried to find a tuk tuk. We finally did but the thing was we still were getting soaked cause there was already so much rain on the road that at times the inside of the tuk tuk flooded with water and one time a truck drove by and did not slow down, which ended up drenching me in water. Once we got to El Puente Negro in Oriente there was a lot of rain to the point where we had to just walk the rest of the way. Practically for the next hour, hour and a half, we were standing in water up to the middle of our shins. And now, I was not wearing my water boots this day because it was sunny in the morning. I probably made that all sound miserable but it was so much fun!! It was awesome and I loved it!!
Speaking of Baptismal Interviews.... Hermana Kati got baptized this week!! She is the daughter of Sergio and María who were baptized two weeks ago, and after their baptism she moved in with them and all she wanted was to learn about what her parents did and be baptized for herself. PILAS!!
We got a new Élders Quorum President in our Ward in Sanber (San Bernardino) and he is awesome! One thing we've been struggling with is the fact that our ward is literally dying. But Presidente Alex Chum is an answer to our prayers and he is working so hard to revive this little Ward.
One thing that Presidente Chum has really ingrained in my mind this week is the importance of ministering and visting others as members. There are always so many people in the ward, any ward, with many problems. And the thing is, most of the time no one knows. And sometimes all they are waiting for is for someone to visit them or just help them feel like they aren't on their own. Which reminds me of the covenant we make with God as we are baptized.
Mosiah 18:8-9
"8 And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;
9 Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort..."
We covenant to help lift up each other. But how can we lift each other up when we don't know where to lift them up from. We can speak and teach as many lessons we want at church but it isn't until we go looking for those in need, like Jesus did, that they will really feel our love for them.
I'm not saying ministering or finding those that need this help is easy but I do know that as we strive to keep this covenant that we made and "bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light" that God will help and guide us. "I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." (1 Nephi 3:7) Just as Nephi, one of the Prophets of the Book of Mormon knew, I know that this is true. God will guide us and help us as we strive to keep this covenant. I testify of this truth in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Thanks for all yall who tuned in! Hope ya'll had a great week and hope that this coming week will be even better! Love ya guys! I'll bug yall later
