Sick, Transfers, and Christmas is here!
So ... sorry about not writing an email last week. We got notice of our transfers on Monday and found out they were Tuesday. So I only had half a day to say goodbye to everyone I could and pack. And I did so with a crazy fever. So due to that I had no energy left after packing to write an email. But after two days I got better and I'm back to work!!
So ya, I had to say bye to mi hijo (My son) Elder Soto. I left Ocós. I'll say the weather wasn't the best there, was way too hot, but the members and people there are just the best. They made every second in Ocós worth it there. You can find faithful disciples of Christ in any part of the world, whether it's in a chapel in Utah, or a small rented building in the middle of a tiny, tiny town on the beach surrounded by nothing but water, plantain, and banana trees. They have a place in my heart that will never be removed.
So now I am in an area called Nuevo Palmar (New Palm Grove)/Pueblo Nuevo (New town). The reason It's called Nuevo Palmar is because Antiguo Palmar (Ancient Palmar) is right below a volcano and got covered in ash one day after an eruption. So they moved a little East and made Nuevo Palmar which is still directly below the Volcano. This area has some of the best weather I have experienced in Guatemala. It is literally always the perfect temperature and I love it! I also get the opportunity to cover two Branches, hence the two names of the area. So far I have loved all the members I've met. There's even faithful members right under volcanoes. Who'd have thunk?
Just as a heads up to everyone who might be worried, health wise I'm A-ok now. Tomorrow I finish treatment for some parasites and we get to see if they are still living with me or if they've given up the ghost.
One thing I have really learned this week is how you really have to give God everything to be successful as a missionary. Elder Wilks is teaching me exactly what it is like to be a consecrated missionary. He just finished his training and is such a pilas missionary and I can't wait to keep learning to give God my all in this year that I have left.
Now, before you read more, watch this video.
He is the first Gift. He began Christmas. He is Christmas. One thing that Hermana Mckay has told us missionaries before is this: Más in English means more. So Christmas, with keeping this meaning in mind, can mean "more Christ". This time of Christmas is meant to bring more of Christ into our lives and those around us. So I invite ya'll to bear a simple testimony with a loved one, neighbor, or friend and bring a little more Christ into their lives. Because that is just what Christmas is about.
Pues that's it for today. I hope you all had a great week and have an even better week! Love ya'll and Merry Christmas!!!
