The Past 3 Weeks ...
It's hard to believe that 3 weeks have already flown by since the last time I wrote an email! Sorry about that. Time truly does move differently on a mission.
These past few weeks have been a whirlwind of experiences. I've definitely had my fair share of highs and lows these three weeks. But here's a quick summary:
- the last pday that I wrote an email, I got a fun surprise attack from a massive spider that was hanging out a couple inches from my back.
- we gotta celebrate the birthday of la chunquita (Mexican Spanish way of saying "little one") (la chunquita's name is Ánia or Matu)
- made my comp puke by fake gagging...
- found a little friend hanging out on my pants, which supposedly hurts like a son of a gun when it stings you. Luckily, I wore pants to the service project...
- I have gotten to eat a lot of tacos, cause who knew how much Mexicans like tacos
- We gotta celebrate the bday of Flor from Pueblo Nuevo, who I baptized! She finally can get her Guatemalan ID card! (she turned 18)
- We gotta go to Xela for a multi-mission conference with Elder Patrick Kearon!!! He is such a JOYful guy and is such a jokester. He came to congratulate our two missions on being great workers and on what more we could do to get to the next level.
- it is now raining almost everyday. We are entering the rainy season again!!!
- today for pday we ended up going paintballing as a zone! It was a great way to shed some stress.
But ya this week is also the final week of the transfer so I'm looking forward to how Elder Contreras and I can end up this transfer. So next Monday I will be getting my transfer news that I'm going to the COLD mountains kidding who knows if I'm staying or going. But we'll know next Monday.
But something cool that I learned comes from the Bible, in Joshua 3. In this chapter the Israelites were guided by Joshua to their promised land, but to get to it they had to not only cross the great river Jordan but they then had to enter into battle to gain it from the inhabitants that already lived on the land. And to give the Israelites hope that God is on their side, God gave them a way to receive a great miracle, to give them hope entering into the battles that came. God commanded Joshua to command the priests that bore the ark of the covenant, to walk into the Jordan and to stand still in the River Jordan. And after standing and waiting in the Jordan, then God split the river in half so they could walk on dry ground as did the Israelites do with Moses to cross the Red Sea. I like this because it shows how we have to act to have miracles happen in our lives. We need to get our feet wet and put in the effort to show God we are worthy of his miracles.
So get your feet wet, bear the weight of the trial you are burdening, and step into the river so God can show you the path that you should take. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever so he doesn't change in the way He works.
So ya. That's all for now. Hope y'all have a great week and I'll bug ya next time ¡Hasta Pronto!
